Big Things Going on in Govt & Industry Affairs

Posted By: Stephanie Beeman Blog,

As we return to something we're calling the "new normal," all of our committees here at PTAA have been buzzing with activity. The Government & Industry Affairs committee has been no exception, although sometimes we don't talk enough about the important work they're doing.

Here are some things they've had in the works that all of our members should know about:

  • Last month, March 8-9, several members of PTAA traveled to Washington DC or joined meetings remotely to ensure that our local voices were heard on the national level about several key issues. You can read a full account of it at this previous blog.
  • Local elections are coming: The Govt. & Industry Affairs Committee arranged to interview candidates, and after reviewing will make recommendations of support. Primary elections are coming up May 17 so be on the lookout for information from PTAA as we near Election Day with some recommendations to take to the ballot box.
  • You may have seen some information on the blog and Community Insider introducing our membership to PACs: stay tuned for more details to come about the PACs we support and why, and how the contributions are used
  • You can advocate too! The committee is holding a FREE How to Advocate education session for PTAA members in the Loebsack & Brownlee Education Room May 4 from 9am-10:30am. This session is for anyone who is interested but unsure of the process. You'll have all the tools you need to be prepared to participate in Legislative Days in Raleigh, Advocate in Washington DC, and other ways. RSVP to attend the session here
