On January 13 an Administrative Order was issued that suspends Small Claims Court, District and Superior Courts (with the exception of courts that are necessary to the due process of law, or are otherwise deemed necessary) in the Greensboro and High Point Courthouses from 12:30 PM on January 13 through January 19, 2021 at 5:00 PM. The following is from the Administrative Order (you can read the full order here):

IT APPEARING TO THE COURT that the Guilford County Health Director has designated the Guilford County Courthouse (GSO) as a "hot spot" due to the number of COVID-19 positive employees and those exposed to the virus requiring testing and time to quarantine; and also recommended restricting access to comts and the building.; and it also appearing to the Court that Clerk of Superior Comt employees have been significantly impacted and workforce in Greensboro and High Point are greatly diminished;

The Clerk's office is also closed during this time and once they reopen the office will operate with reduced hours from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

In related news, new North Carolina Chief Justice Paul Newby is expected to make changes once his predecesors orders expire. Those will impact how courts do their business across the state and we will keep you updated as we learn more.
