NC HOPE Program
NC HOPE INCREASES AMI Eligibility: The N.C. Housing Opportunities and Prevention of Evictions HOPE Program has announced a change to income requirements that will increase the number of eligible applicants for emergency rent and utility assistance. When the second application period opened last month on on May 17, the program prioritized applicants with an income of 50 percent of the area median income. Citing that the majority of previous applicants fell within that threshold and that individual at that income level were more susceptible to homelessness without intervention. With criticism from AANC and other housing organizations, NCORR has announced they are now increasing the income limit to 80 percent of the area median income for the county where the applicant lives.
