AANC Valet Trash Update
Following is from a memorandum issued by AANC regarding the NC Building Code Council Valet Trash Update:
As reflected in the September 14, 2021 Minutes of the North Carolina Building Code Council (BCC) meeting, the October 1, 2021 compliance date for valet trash vendors to meet the amended 2018 NC Fire Code, Sec. 301.4.2.3 has been postponed to June 1, 2022.
Apartment communities that retain valet trash services from vendors who have not yet outfitted their organization to comply with the amended 2018 NC Fire Code, Sec. 301.4.2.3 may continue to utilize these vendors without fear of fines or noncompliance until June 1, 2022.
This decision can be referenced at the bottom of page 24 of the minutes where the recommendation of postponement was made by the Commercial Super Committee and then unanimously approved by the Council. The official minutes of this meeting are recorded on CD. Anyone desiring confirmation of the postponement should contact the Engineering Division of the NC Department of Insurance.
