Quick Tips for Apartment Industry Supplier Partners
As you can imagine we've been fielding a lot of questions at the PTAA office over the last couple of weeks. Now is an extraordinary time for all of our members, from both the owner-operator and the supplier partner side. Today I'd like to share a couple of quick tips for our supplier partners based on multiple conversations we've had with owner-operators:
- Multiple management companies we've spoken with say that they have suspended any in-unit deliveries or services. Based on this I would highly recommend you contact management before showing up on property.
- Now is probably NOT a good time to sell. All management personnel are extremely busy right now and sales calls would be disruptive at this high-stress time.
- On the flip side, you should be ready to reply quickly to requests. Again, because this is a high stress time for everyone there likely isn't going to be much lead time when those requests come in.
My apologies if this sounds a little "preachy" or condescending, and I suspect many of you already know this, but based on the fact that we've heard it from multiple parties it's probably fair to say that not all of your peers have gotten the message.
To end on a positive note: everyone we've spoken to understands that their suppliers are also dealing with extraordinary circumstances and they truly appreciate whatever help their suppliers are able to give. For that I'd like to personally thank all of you for doing what you do. Stay safe!
